Help us keep showing up for families.
Our Special Village is built and cared for by the husband-and-wife team behind Little Luminaries Therapy Services, alongside a small team of dedicated volunteers. We both work full time and are raising a neurodivergent child of our own. This is the project we pour our hearts into around work, appointments, and everyday family life.
Behind every guide, provider listing, and calendar entry are hours of research, phone calls, writing, checking details, and fixing what breaks. Building the website was only the beginning. Keeping it useful means showing up again and again as information changes and families look for answers.
This is a family-led community project, not a large corporate platform. Your support helps cover the tools and time it takes to keep the Village going—and gives us more time and energy to help other families find information, connection, and a place to belong.

There is more than one way to support the Village.
If you have time, curiosity, or a skill to share, there may be a place for you here. Some projects happen behind the scenes; others help families feel welcomed and connected. Tell us what interests you and what fits your schedule.
Find and verify resources
- Find local events. Look through Facebook, Instagram, community calendars, and other websites for events families may want to know about.
- Check provider information. Contact practices to confirm waitlist estimates, accepted insurance, and whether they are accepting new patients.
- Find Village Hall guests. Suggest and help connect us with knowledgeable guests who can offer practical guidance to families.
Help families connect
- Spread the word. Share the site thoughtfully when a family is looking for resources or connection on Facebook or another community platform.
- Support the parent group. Help welcome participants and assist the facilitator with group logistics after training.
- Help with family inquiries. With training and team supervision, help families find relevant guides, resources, and next steps by email.
Write and share
- Write resource guides. Research, draft, or update clear, useful guides with sources and team review.
- Gather Hope Wall stories. Invite families to share milestones and hopeful moments, with permission before anything is published.
- Help with the newsletter. Gather useful updates, draft short sections, proofread, or help organize the monthly email.

Hours and payment records
Can you document my volunteer hours?
We can provide a signed record of approved hours you complete with us. If you need hours for school, a scholarship, or another program, get that program’s approval before you start. We can verify your work, but your program decides whether it counts.
Can I receive a receipt for financial support?
Yes. We can provide a written receipt for financial support. Our Special Village is operated by Little Luminaries Therapy Services, PLLC, and is not currently a registered nonprofit. Support is not tax-deductible as a charitable contribution.
A support receipt shows the legal recipient, payment date, amount and currency, transaction reference, and an accurate description of the payment and any applicable benefits.
Monthly support can be cancelled at any time. A payment made in error may be refunded on request within 30 days. Supporters at $10 per month or more will receive Village Hall sessions once registration opens.
Support and sponsorship never affect listings, Village Picks, recommendations, Directory placement, or editorial decisions. Directory providers may sponsor Our Special Village, but sponsorship never affects whether or where a provider is listed, Village Pick status, recommendations, ratings, guide mentions, or editorial content. Sponsors are labeled clearly.

Calendar
Sensory-friendly events, support-group meetings, respite nights, and upcoming community programs around Middle Tennessee, updated regularly.
Online Support Group
A free, low-pressure hour with parents and caregivers who understand, online every Thursday from 7:00–8:00 PM. Cameras are optional and meetings are not recorded.
Village Hall
A monthly online conversation with a guest expert about one practical topic, followed by live Q&A. Registrants receive the presentation recording.
