How we check information

Guides use primary and official sources first: agencies that run programs, laws and regulations, professional bodies, and peer-reviewed research. Thin or contested evidence is described honestly. We do not cite a source we could not open and read, and we do not use AI-generated citations.

Eligibility, cost, deadlines, and contact details are checked against official pages and dated. Directory facts come from a provider’s official site or information the provider gives us directly. If sources disagree, the listing tells families to confirm; we do not fill gaps with guesses.

A Reviewed or Checked date marks the last time a person compared the content with its sources and confirmed or corrected it. It is a freshness signal, not a promise that a program has not changed since.

Our Special Village is owned and operated by Little Luminaries Therapy Services, PLLC. Resources are free, provider listings are not paid, and Little Luminaries listings are marked Affiliated practice. Businesses cannot pay for Directory placement or ranking, and there are no sponsored editorial recommendations or third-party ad networks.

Sponsorship is available to eligible local businesses, including listed providers.

Directory providers may sponsor Our Special Village, but sponsorship never affects whether or where a provider is listed, Village Pick status, recommendations, ratings, guide mentions, or editorial content. Sponsors are labeled clearly.

A category may pin a listing only for a stated non-paid reason, and pinning is not a rating.

Send the page, the fact that appears wrong, and an official source when available. Confirmed factual corrections are made as soon as practical; a change to guidance also updates the review date and build notes.
